The AKG D3700M is a cardioid pattern dynamic vocal microphone with an ergonomically designed handle and the flexibility to operate with or without wires!


The AKG D3700M is an amazingly well constructed and versatile dynamic vocal microphone specially made for the most demanding performance applications. This mic is also heavy duty, the patented Varimotion technology diaphragm is double suspended for significant suppression of mechanical and handling noises, and a hum suppression coil is installed for a reduction of external interference. A spring steel wire mesh cap installed atop an integrated foam screen helps to increase ruggedness and acts as a wind screen to provide control of pops and wind noises.

Like all TriPower series mics from AKG, the D3700M was designed with performers in mind, and features an ergonomically optimized triangular handle, in addition to the capability (just like the related D3800M) to be easily converted to wireless operation with the addition of a TM 40 wireless transmitter module. The TM 40 simply replaces the included XLR module - which, on the D3700SM and D3800SM, includes an on/off switch - for a fast and easy wireless changeover. For a quality condenser mic in the series, the C5900M is excellent, and provides a variety of audio control features, such as a bass cut filter, and an output level selector.

Many of these same features are available at a lower cost with AKG's Emotion series microphones. The D880M and C900M, for example, are heavy-duty vocal and instrument mics also fully compatible with the TM 40 wireless module. The D770, on the other hand, is suitable for both instruments and vocals, and is equipped with a frequency response that slightly emphasizes the mid and treble ranges for improved intelligibility.

If, instead, what you're looking for is high quality, low cost vocal and instrument mics, you should consider AKG's CCS series. The D88S and D77S, for example, are great utility mics, useful for virtually any application, from instruments, to karaoke, to backup vocals. The D22/XLR is an instrument mic tailored specifically for the mid range, and the D11/XLR and D112 are specially designed for low end frequency response; useful for anything from kick drums to bass.
